Right or wrong ???

 

1. I listen the radio via my laptop. Wrong: I listen to the radio via my laptop.

2. Christopher Columbus dreamt of discovering new countries. Wrong: Christopher Columbus dreamt of discovering new lands.

3. The latest trend fashion is sometimes called terrific. Right: terrific is synonymous for great’, ‘remarkable.

4. Someone who is somewhat arrogant is proud as a peacock. Right: proud as a peacock means to be immoderately proud.

5. When you’re as fit as a fiddle, you’re sick to death. Wrong: a fiddle is a joyous musical instrument and fit as a fiddle is synonymous for an excellent health!

6. A couch-potato is a stay-at-home. Right: couch is synonymous for sofa and a couch-potato is generally not an active person, and mostly a homebody.

7. A couch doctor is a lazy doctor. Wrong: in colloquial language, a “couch doctor” is a psychiatrist.

8. A passenger who complains about the fabric of his seat is unsatisfied with the textile. Right: fabric is (among others) synonymous for ‘cloth’, ‘material’, ‘textile’.
